I love lane talk and am trying to go pba soon. However, just updated it, and now manual scoring is blocked. I saw a similar review about it being blocked behind a pay wall, but I am a fully subscribed pro member. Please fix, as soon as possible since most alleys don't have automatic tracking.
Developer response
Hi William, thank you for your feedback, and we're sorry for the trouble. We released another update over the weekend that fixes the crash issues affecting manual scoring on Android. Please make sure you're on the latest version. If you're still having problems, please contact [email protected] and we'll look into it.
awesome and thanks
Developer response
Thanks, Brad! We really appreciate the 5 stars and the kind words. Glad you’re enjoying LaneTalk!
had been working until this morning. I'm bowling tournament and the app keeps force closing not working at all
Developer response
Hi Wes, we’re sorry to hear this. We released a follow-up update that addresses recent crash issues. Please make sure you’re on the latest version. If it’s still force closing, contact [email protected] and we’ll look into it.
Up until two days ago I would have rated this app with 5 stars. Then I downloaded the update and it hasn't worked since.
Developer response
Hi Keith, we’re sorry to hear that. We released a follow-up update during the weekend that addresses the crash issues reported after the previous version. Please make sure you’re on the latest update. If it’s still not working, please contact [email protected].
Really good app when having pro, unfortunately from even a year ago it's lost many features I enjoyed, practically unusable without pro
Developer response
We understand the experience is more limited as a free user compared to before. We moved personal tracking and stats to Pro so we can continue developing and maintaining the platform long-term. We know that won’t suit everyone, but we appreciate the feedback.
Was great for the limited free features but then they locked everything behind a pay wall. Just put ads here and there like every other app. Small discount for USBC membership? Come on. I love how every response from the company is "well it costs us money to do this". Yeah, but now it's going to cost you most of your user base.
Developer response
Hi Kyle, we understand not everyone wants to pay for an app. We moved features to Pro to sustainably continue offering the tracking and insights many bowlers rely on. To keep developing and maintaining the platform, it needs to be supported by those who use it the most. We appreciate your feedback.
good way to keep track of your scores and statistics of where you need to improve your game. worth the yearly subscription if you bowl in leagues and want to improve.
Developer response
Thanks, Roger! We’re glad you’re finding value in the stats and insights. Helping league bowlers track progress and improve over time is exactly what LaneTalk is built for. Really appreciate the thoughtful review and support!
horrible app
Developer response
Hi Bill, we’re sorry to hear that. If something didn’t work as expected, we’d really appreciate more details so we can improve. Feel free to reach out to [email protected] and we’ll be happy to help.
can't skip the beginning video of "people rating the app" and then someone talking about the app every time you open the app. once that's finished it hits you with an immediate paywall. no thank you.
Developer response
Hi Taylor, the intro sequence is part of the first-time onboarding to explain the app. New users start with a 1-month free trial to experience the full functionality. You can cancel anytime during the trial to continue as a free user after the trial, without being charged.
it's been good for a couple years but the new update keeps crashing
Developer response
Thanks for the feedback, Jonathon. We recently released another update that includes fixes for the crashes reported after the previous version. Please make sure you’re on the latest version, and if you’re still experiencing issues, reach out to [email protected] so we can help.
Great app that makes tracking your bowling stats really easy and automatic
Developer response
Thanks, John! We’re glad you’re enjoying how easy and automatic the stat tracking is — that’s exactly what we aim for. Appreciate the 5 stars and the support!
This app is great for a numbers guy, like me! I like the ability to track my results both in league and in practice. It's great that I can see the different results with each ball and house. That only leaves me to deal with the individual lanes and oil patterns. I use this app live to track in-game progress and later to reveal spare pick-ups and weaknesses to work on. It has helped me to elevate my game and for that I am very gratefull.
Developer response
Thank you, Larry! We love hearing from fellow “numbers guys.” It’s great to know you’re using the app to break down results by ball, house, and patterns — that’s exactly the kind of insight LaneTalk is built for. Really glad it’s helping elevate your game!
used to work great, but now connects to every other Country but USA
Developer response
Hi David, we’re not entirely sure what you mean here, but it sounds like something may not be working as expected. Could you please reach out to [email protected] with a bit more detail? We’ll be happy to look into it and help resolve the issue.
very useful app. Hopefully more centers will adopt the system.
Developer response
Thanks, Roger! We’re really happy you’re finding the app useful. We’re always working to grow our center network, and more bowling alleys are joining over time. LaneTalk does not charge centers for integration, so feel free to let your local center know about lanetalk.com/centers.
Great App. It keeps track of everything so I can focus on bowling and not worry about my stats. Just wish more bowling alleys was apart of Lanetalk.
Developer response
Thanks, Dion! We’re glad it helps you focus on bowling without worrying about stats. We’re continuously expanding our center network. LaneTalk does not charge centers for integration, so feel free to let your local alley know about lanetalk.com/centers.
There should be options to add and remove equipment.
Developer response
Hi Felicia! You can add bowling balls through the Arsenal feature. We’re considering adding an option to retire equipment in a future update. While we don’t support other gear yet, you can use custom tags and attach them to your series to track additional equipment. Thanks for the feedback!
Can no longer add games without paying 7.99/mo. I've used the free version when you could add/track games as well as the paid version. It's not worth the current subscription price. Consider adding a 2.99 plan just for adding tracking games. Some folks don't need the extra bells and whistles.
Developer response
Hi Andrew. Adding and tracking your own games is part of Pro, which helps us maintain the platform and continue improving it. We understand it may not feel worth it for everyone, and appreciate you giving LaneTalk a try and sharing your thoughts.
great tool for tracking you games balls used.
Developer response
Thanks a lot, Joseph! We’re glad you’re finding it useful for tracking your games and the balls you use. That kind of insight can really make a difference over time. Appreciate you being part of LaneTalk!
best way to track scores and keeps stats! love this app!
Developer response
Thank you, Rob! We’re thrilled to hear you’re enjoying the app and finding it the best way to track your scores and stats. That’s exactly what we aim for. Appreciate the support!
Has definitely helped my focus on sets,, as well; my growth.
Developer response
Thank you for the great review! We’re really glad to hear LaneTalk is helping you stay focused on your sets and track your growth. Wishing you continued progress on the lanes!
used to be a great app. now it's just a money grab thanks ruining it
Developer response
Thanks for sharing your feedback and for having used the app. The move to Pro wasn’t about a “money grab,” but about keeping the platform running long-term. LaneTalk is built around automated tracking and detailed stats, which require continuous development and maintenance. That’s what the subscription supports.
it's a great way to keep track of your scores and see the areas you need to work on
Developer response
Thanks, John! That’s exactly what we built LaneTalk for — helping bowlers spot patterns and keep improving. 🎳 We really appreciate the support!
Great app, very impressive and easy to use.
Developer response
Thanks, Bill! Great to hear you’re enjoying the app!
I hope this is a preauth and not a scam. I just got charged 50 dollars for a free trial of an 8 dollar a month service. Which is 50 dollars I was going to use towards a new ball, but now I can't.
Developer response
Hi Matt. Thanks for raising this. All charges are handled by Google Play and always require confirmation. Our support team is already looking into your case and will follow up directly to clarify what happened and help resolve it.
I use this app every time my son bowls. It is an amazing tool to keep track of his scores. He's in the youth league for now, his goal/dream is to go pro.
Developer response
Thank you for sharing this, Theresa! We love hearing how LaneTalk is being used to support young bowlers on their journey. Wishing your son the best of luck in his youth league — we’ll be cheering him on toward that pro dream 🎳
Last time I had it installed, the centers I bowl in were not listed. I know Tucson is no longer on the tour, but why aren't they here.
Developer response
Thanks for the feedback, Dan. Centers appear in LaneTalk when they have a compatible scoring system and choose to enable the LaneTalk integration. We don’t charge centers for this. If a location is missing, you can point them to lanetalk.com/centers for more info.
Having to pay is just absurd, and at $50 a year! Gimme a freaking break. I'm done with the app. Darn shame.
Developer response
Thanks for the feedback, Mike. We understand the price won’t feel right for everyone. For those who use LaneTalk regularly, yearly plans start from $39.99 and help support the automated tracking and insights the app is built around. We respect your decision and appreciate that you gave the app a try.
won't let me use the free addition. keeps asking for a credit card. I don't even want the free trial. just want to track my sons scores
Developer response
Hi Jeff. Pro is required to claim and track your own games, but you don’t need a subscription just to view other bowlers’ scores where public live scoring is available. New users start with a free trial to explore the app, which can be cancelled anytime without charge. We understand this setup isn’t right for everyone.
zero mercy pearl and solid are able to be added to arsenal but NU 2.0 is not? they all were released at the same time. edit: I like the app. no issues. I do have the pro version because the free one is very limited
Developer response
Thanks for highlighting this, Bill. It is added to the app but there's currently an issue with searching for short names (less than three characters). If you search for "hammer" and scroll way down the results to Hammer NU, you'll find it. Glad to hear you're enjoying the app and using Pro - thanks for the update and support!
just tracking my games and looking at stats
Developer response
Glad it’s working well for you — that’s exactly what it’s built for. Thanks for using LaneTalk!
love the app!
Developer response
Thanks a lot! We’re really glad you’re enjoying the app!
I was using the app a lot last year during the summer but took a break during the winter, but now that the holidays are over, I went back to my usual bowling alley and saw that there was a update and updated .... horrible mistake. Can't use the app and do the manual scorekeeping, all the features are locked behind a subscription! So disappointing!! Uninstalling and would not recommend this app anymore
Developer response
Thanks for sharing your experience. We understand the update was disappointing if you have been using the free version. LaneTalk is built around automated tracking and deeper insights, which is costly to run. To keep the platform sustainable long-term, tracking your own games is now part of Pro. We understand that this won’t fit everyone.
100% subscription based now
Developer response
Thanks for the feedback. LaneTalk is now primarily subscription-based for tracking your own games and stats, so we can keep the platform sustainable long-term. We understand this change isn’t for everyone and appreciate you sharing your view.
pretty good but they make you pay pro if you want to add games and see you games so becomes useless if you don't pay.
Developer response
Thanks for the feedback, Sophia. Tracking your own games and stats is part of Pro so we can keep the platform running long-term. Free users can still follow other bowlers, but we understand the model won’t feel right for everyone. We appreciate you sharing your perspective.
Can't do anything without signing up for free trial. sorry, ain't doin that. give me the chance to check it out first....then I'll decide if I want more.
Developer response
Thanks for the feedback. New users start with a free trial so you can experience all features before deciding. You can cancel anytime during the trial with no charge and continue as a free user afterward. We understand this approach isn’t for everyone and appreciate you sharing your thoughts.
I can understand they need to fund the live tracking so you need to pay for that, but they get 1* for putting manual scoring behind the pay wall too, why?
Developer response
Thanks for the feedback. LaneTalk is built around automated tracking and long-term performance analysis. To keep the experience simple and consistent, tracking your own games - whether automatic or manual - is part of Pro. We understand this won’t suit everyone and appreciate you sharing your view.
Hiding every useful feature behind a paywall is scummy behavior. Will be uninstalling.
Developer response
Thanks for sharing your feedback. LaneTalk is built around automated score tracking and deeper insights, which require ongoing resources to maintain. We understand this model won’t be right for everyone, and we appreciate you having tried the app and sharing your perspective.
its a good info app, with usbc member discount I think its worth it.
Developer response
Thanks for the review! Glad to hear you find the app useful and that the USBC member discount makes it a good value for you. We appreciate the support and hope LaneTalk continues to help your game.
why I can't subscribe, keep on Loading errors
Developer response
Hello Rol, sorry to hear that you experience issues when you are trying to setup your subscription. Please reach out to [email protected] and we are happy to hear more details so that we can help you to set it up. It's common that users have several accounts that will create issues with the subscription setup. Hope to hear from you soon, thanks!
Unfortunately this app requires you to subscribe to even browse the app itself. I can't even make an informed decision about features or usability without entering a "free trial". I'd really like to be able to navigate the app and interact with the interface (not even functionally use it) before commiting to a trial or subscription. *Edit* (Rep) I understand the intent is a user signs up for a "free-trial" and has full-funtionality. For me personally, this is poor UX design and a huge turn-off.
Developer response
Thanks for the feedback. New users start with a free trial so they can experience the app’s full functionality before deciding. The trial can be cancelled at any time, and no charge is made if you cancel. After that, you can continue as a free user if you choose.
I love how easy it is to navigate the app. I can keep track on how I'm doing in game and keep up with my average and how to improve it.
Developer response
Thanks for the great feedback, Jared! We’re glad you find the app easy to navigate and helpful for tracking your game and improving your average. That’s exactly what we aim to support. Appreciate you using LaneTalk!
Only used this app to view friend's bowling scores as they bowled so with that behind a paywall with all the other stuff I did not want, I guess I can just go back to texting for score updates and save room on my phone for better apps. Edit: The serious bowlers I know already track all their stats without this app and have for years. It's not worth the money.
Developer response
Thanks for the feedback. LaneTalk is primarily built for bowlers who want to track and improve their own game. Automated, real-time scoring comes with ongoing costs, which is why those features are part of Pro. We understand it may not be the right fit if you only want to follow friends occasionally.
Great app keeps very accurate and makes you a better bowling because of the stats.
Developer response
Thanks for the kind words! We’re really glad the stats are helping you improve your game. Appreciate you using LaneTalk and taking the time to share this.
App used to be great, could easily keep up with games for bragging rights with friends, but now after this new update you must pay a subscription to look at anything worth looking at. Who needs an app for "live tracking" when every bowling center has scoring?
Developer response
Thanks for the feedback. LaneTalk isn’t meant to replace a center’s scoring screens, but to give bowlers long-term tracking, insights, and comparisons across games, sessions, and centers. We understand that this isn’t valuable for everyone, and appreciate you sharing your perspective.
overall it does the job. it's clunky and some features work sparingly.
Developer response
Thanks for the feedback. We’re glad the app does the job overall. We know there’s room to improve performance and polish, and we’re continuously working on stability and usability. If you notice specific features not working as expected, feel free to reach out to [email protected].
A prime example of what Cory Doctorow coined "the enshitification of"... in this case apps. Free options move to the premium version. Now it's even removed everything from the free option. Guess I'll have a go at vibe coding and have it grab the score from pictures. It's a thing one can do with AI. Fremium or premium, a dying breed. Can't come soon enough.
Developer response
Thanks for sharing your perspective. LaneTalk is built around automated, real-time scoring and analysis, which comes with ongoing costs to operate and maintain. Free users can still follow other bowlers, while tracking your own games is part of Pro. We understand this model isn’t for everyone.
I get to see all my scores💪🏾
Developer response
Thanks for the review! If there’s anything you’d like to see improved, feel free to let us know — we’re always listening.
this is not the app that's going to make you rich and your money grap is desperate.
Developer response
Thanks for the feedback. LaneTalk isn’t about getting rich, but about keeping an automated scoring platform running long-term. Real-time tracking and stats come with real operating costs, and subscriptions help cover that. We understand it’s not for everyone.
You can't even get into the app before it forces a 7 day free trial or a payment on to you. At least let me see what the app offers.
Developer response
Thanks for the feedback. New users start with a free 1 month trial so they can explore all features before deciding. You can cancel anytime during the trial and won’t be charged, and still continue using LaneTalk as a free user afterward.
Great to track progress and improve your overall skill level.
Developer response
Thanks for the great review! We’re happy to hear LaneTalk is helping you track your development and take your game to the next level.
