great way to digitally track your progress

Going downhill. so they charge continuing users $50 a year for this app. the stats are good thus 2stars. the arsenal feature doesn't allow layouts. My real Real bone of contention is that the add games feature only allows paid users the ability to go back a month to claim games. this feature used to allow paid users to go back more than one month. I don't know what happened but this app is not worth the money if I can't claim games further back than one month .

cant do anything in the app unless you pay for a subscription even though it says theres a free option

Developer response

Thanks for your feedback, Giovanny. New users start with a free trial to explore the full app. The trial can be cancelled at any time with no charge, and you can then continue using the free version. The free experience focuses on following scores and other bowlers, while Pro unlocks tracking and deeper insights.

Used to love it. This update was the worst thing they could've done. Locked everything behind a paywall. Used to be able to add games, see your average, etc and now you can't do literally anything unless you fork over money. Money hungry developers I guess. Won't ever use the app again now unfortunately.

Developer response

Thanks for your feedback, Trevor. We understand this change can feel frustrating, especially if you’ve been using the app for a long time. The change was made to sustainably maintain and improve the platform over time. There is still a free experience to follow other bowlers, while Pro is for those who want full tracking and deeper insights.

the app is great I think here could be one slight adjustment to make this app one of the best and that would to be able to see you speed your carry your entry and your breakpoint

Developer response

Thanks for the great review and suggestion! We’re glad you’re enjoying the app. Tracking things like speed, entry point, and breakpoint is something that would be possible with additional hardware like sensors or cameras. It’s not part of our current roadmap, but we really appreciate the idea and feedback.

I like the app because I can analyze my stats

Developer response

Thanks for the great review! We’re glad to hear you’re enjoying analyzing your stats — that’s exactly what LaneTalk is built for. Appreciate your support! 🎳

Everything in this app is behind a paywall. I'm just gonna use pen and paper. would not recommend to a bowler starting on a budget.

Developer response

Thanks for your feedback, Zach. We understand the experience can feel limited without a subscription. We still offer a free option to follow scores and other bowlers, while Pro is designed for those who want to track their own games and get deeper insights.

Since I start with this app. I wasn't mindful of the importance in spares or taken the count on splits. Also my average has improved.

Developer response

Thanks for the great review, Sharrine! It’s awesome to hear the app has helped you focus more on spares and splits — and even improve your average. That’s exactly what we aim for. Keep up the great bowling! 🎳

Developer response

We are thrilled to hear that you like the app. We are working hard to improve the app every week so please reach out to us if you have ideas on how it can be improved. Thanks!

Was a pro subscriber and enjoyed the app. Unfortunately with the removal of features from the free version and the subscription price increase, the number of bowlers using it at my local alley dropped significantly. Making the more fun features of following and competing with others limited and not worth continuing my subscription.

Developer response

Thanks for your feedback, Glenn. We understand how important the social aspect is, and how the experience depends on others around you using the app. Our goal with these changes is to keep the platform sustainable long-term while continuing to grow the network. We appreciate the time you've spent with LaneTalk and hope to welcome you back soon.

It is no longer free. Was a good app to use in general at the alley. Especially to see how you improve. Now you get access to no interface other than a button to start a subscription.

Developer response

Thanks for your feedback. Existing users can still continue using the free version. New users start with a free trial to explore the full app, but it can be cancelled anytime during the trial with no charge, and you can continue using the free version afterward.

Can't add your own game scores for free anymore, moved the feature behind a pay wall.

Developer response

Thanks for your feedback. Tracking and saving your own games is now part of Pro, as it relies on infrastructure with ongoing costs to maintain. Free users can still follow scores and other bowlers in participating centers.

Horrible. I stopped using it for a bit and when I came back, I could only use it if I paid for it. not worth it any more, and it completely ruined the app. Bowling isn't cheap, and doing stuff like this will drive people away from the sport. Disappointing.

Developer response

Thanks for your feedback, Nathan. We understand the frustration, especially coming back to the app after some time. The change allows us to maintain and continue improving the platform long-term. There's still a free experience to follow scores, while Pro is for those who want full tracking and deeper insights.

Love the app, but it needs to be in more bowling centers!! Otherwise it would be 5 stars.

Developer response

Thanks for the review, Patrick! We totally agree - the more centers that connect, the better the experience gets. We don't charge centers for the integration, and we're always working to grow the network. Appreciate the support!

Highly disappointed that live tracking is not available unless you go with Pro version. And definitely can't believe you have to pay for manual scoring- sad!

Developer response

Hi Susan, thanks for your updated feedback. We understand this change can feel disappointing. Live tracking and manual scoring are part of Pro as they rely on infrastructure with ongoing costs to maintain and operate. Free users can still follow scores in participating centers. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.

what a joke! used to be a great app now you put everything behind pay wall? what a scam. would not recommend to anyone

Developer response

Use to like it until you had to pay for using it then which sucks if your on a budget and can't afford it every month so had to leave it. Loved the app when it was free and able to keep your stats. If it ever got to point where it was free again I definitely will come back to this app it was awesome for stats.

Developer response

Thanks for your kind words, Keith. It really means a lot to hear how much you enjoyed the app. We completely understand that a subscription isn't for everyone. We made this change to be able to keep improving and maintaining the service long-term, but we truly appreciate your support and hope to welcome you back in the future.

horrible update where you have to pay to do anything.

Kyle
Mar 16, 2026

overall a great app. great stat tracking and a lot of information that can be processed. 2 issues. the interface is a little tricky to navigate. if you accidentally exit the app while bowling, you will lose all entered frames which is annoying in 3rd game of a series. the other issue is if you bowl more than 1 series in a day, the app adds up all games instead of 3. example if you bowl city tournament dbls and singles, it will give you a 6 game total instead of separating the 2.

Developer response

Thanks for the detailed feedback, Kyle. Really appreciate you taking the time to share this. We've passed your input on to our product team. As a tip, if you're able to claim already played games from a LaneTalk-integrated center, not using the manual method, series will automatically be grouped correctly.

Autumn J
Mar 16, 2026

everything is now locked behind a subscription paywall. At least leave the manual scoring open to users for free

Developer response

Thanks for the feedback, Autumn. We understand the experience feels more limited without a subscription. Manual scoring are part of Pro as it rely on the same infrastructure as our automated tracking, with ongoing costs to maintain. We’ve shared your feedback with our product team as we continue improving the app.

Mar 10, 2026

don't like that there is no longer a free version of the app but enjoy it for the most part

Developer response

Thanks for the review, Josh! We understand that the change isn’t ideal for everyone. Tracking and claiming your games now require Pro so we can sustainably maintain and improve the platform. That said, we’re really glad to hear you’re still enjoying the app overall.

Love this app! As a first season league bowler I find it absolutely useful when it comes to keeping track of my scores and it helps me to see where my games need improvement. Plus I can stay updated on my team and see where we sit as a team! I would highly recommend this app to anyone looking to improve their game!

Developer response

Thank you for the great review, Zachary! We’re really glad to hear LaneTalk is helping you track your scores and follow your team during your first league season. wish they'd kept it free - but I have the paid version and it works. Wishing more centers in my area participated tho

Developer response

Thanks for the review, Robyn! Glad to hear Pro is working well for you. We’d love to see more centers in your area join LaneTalk — and LaneTalk itself doesn’t charge centers for the integration. The more venues that connect, the better the experience becomes for everyone.

I use android version and I hate that it constantly goes back to the beginning of the list of bowlers after viewing someones stats. I have to scroll down the list of bowlers to find where I was before.

Developer response

Thanks for the feedback, Bryan. We understand how that can be frustrating when browsing through a long list of bowlers. We’ve shared this with our product team so they can look into improving the navigation and returning to the same position in the list after viewing a profile.

was good on release then shoved every aspect behind a pay wall

Developer response

Thanks for your feedback, Kyle. We understand that the experience feels different compared to earlier versions. So, my previous review was about the update, now, its about the app, this app is a MUST HAVE for bowlers. And I like how you can track bowlers' scores and bowlers who are just open bowling, including non-bowlers. I really love this app!!!👌👌

Developer response

Thank you so much for the kind words, Connor! We’re thrilled to hear you’re enjoying the app and making the most of tracking both league and open bowling. Knowing it’s a “must have” for bowlers truly means a lot to us. Thanks for your support! 🎳

At the moment, you're unable to access any of the features without signing up for the pro free trial. When signing up, it won't let you progress to just track your scores without doing so.

Developer response

Thanks for your feedback. Pro is required to track your own scores. New users start with a free trial to explore the app’s full functionality. After the trial, you can choose to continue with Pro or use the free version to follow other bowlers. We understand this setup isn’t for everyone, but it allows us to sustainably maintain the service.

Love the app. A 5 when it's working, a 1 right now...so that makes it a 3?🙃. Apparently, the most recent update has a bug on the Android version. The app opens but will not let me enter scores. Cache cleared, logged out and back in. Still doesn't work. Phone closes app due to the bug and displays a message saying that's what it did and why. Paying for nothing right now... 2/23 update...all is now well. Back to 5-stars!

Developer response

Hi Tom, we’re sorry about this. We released a follow-up update during the weekend that addresses Android crash issues affecting score entry. Please make sure you’re on the latest version. If it’s still not working, contact [email protected] and we’ll look into it.

used to love this app before they put everything behind a pay wall. if you are forced to pay for basic functionality, there are better apps available

Developer response

Hi Rachel, we understand it feels different compared to how the app worked before. Over time we’ve focused on making Pro the core experience so we can sustainably maintain and improve the platform. We know subscriptions aren’t for everyone, and we appreciate you sharing your perspective.
