New App Version
I use this app almost everyday for work and hunting. This app went from being 5 start to unusable. The latest version that got released a few months agois so terrible and unreliable that I will be suspending my subscription and switching to OnX.
Great maps

It works but the by month satellite images are beyond useless. Literally a waste of data. Zoom in to see nothing but blocks the images are so bad.
Intrusive Upgrade Option
I’ve always loved the app but lately the super intrusive pop up to upgrade the app is really ridiculous. There’s no way to say no permanently, so it just keeps popping up over and over in the app. Great way to push me right to OnX
Garbage
Used to work good , not now , went on a week long prairie dog hunting trip and the app buttons were glitching , could not bring up property owner info to see if we were on public ground or federal hunting grounds , app is not reliable , I’m switching to on x

This app is always messing up. It’s a major let down almost everytime I try to access it.

Please fix the wind direction. It’s completely opposite of the prevailing wind as the weather. North is showing south.

Can’t get logged in
I have spent three weeks going round and round with Tech support at HuntStand and they can’t get me logged in. I haven’t had this trouble with the hundreds of other apps. I have used over the years. I have an engineering degree and I’m in senior management of a manufacturing company so I know my way around technical things. This applications tech support is just awful.
Cant log in Update: Fixed.
Bought the app thru Apple. Worked great for a while. For some reason I cannot log in anymore even though my wife still can. At first it looked like it confused me with someone else. Now I can’t get past the Sign In screen. Customer service has been no help so far. Initial response was that they have no record of me having an account. Waiting to hear back. Update: I was able to work with customer service and move my account from Apple ID to a separate HuntStand account. Now works as it used to. Updating my rating for that help.
Property info waaay out of date - lots of ads even for paid version- ONX IS BETTER
As I said property info is about 2 years out of date for at lease Wyoming county PA - lots of ads - new version clumsy to use gotta jump thru hoops and it’s slow - was great app years ago but Onx has surpassed it - a shame - I speak to them they ask me to provide deed info and co ordinates to correct the properties that I know of!! Screw you! They charge me to update their info!
I’d still rather use OnX
Firstly, I’m using the paid version. Secondly, I’ve already opted not to renew. The inability to use multiple map layers is my biggest frustration. I’d like to see roads, public land, private land, and topo all at the same time but can’t. Back to OnX!
Great customer support
I’ve had glitches with this app and I’ve used it for hunting and work purposes for several years now and I accidentally deleted all of my data one night. I reached out to customer service. They were so nice and helpful and they restored all of my information! Very big thank you too Nishal D. who helped me get everything back! I would’ve been lost if I wouldn’t have been able to retrieve years worth of data I had saved so I highly recommend this company, especially for the help they have given me
Bad updates
I second all the people saying this app used to be awesome and now it sucks just nothing ever loads correctly
Don’t trust the wind direction, it’s been dead wrong for the last few months. Definitely bad.
This is the worst app possible with regard to the wind, it’s dead wrong and will ruin your hunt. The offline map isn’t reliable either. I don’t know what’s better but I know this app can’t be trusted.

Steady decline of services
Huntstand has continued to go downhill to the point I finally cancelled my subscription after many years of declining features. Every update they take functionality away and increase the level of difficulty navigating menus. When you create layers it becomes impossible to select individual items in the layer such as a highlighted trail or road. It’ll select the parcel instead 100 out of 100 times since the second to last update. What a waste of money this app was
Very glitchy
When it works right, it’s great, but it’s getting to be few and far between times when it works right. I will not be renewing my subscription.
Having problems
Inaccurate wind direction, different wind direction displayed on different devices for the same area and the app isn't recognizing the current time.
Disappointed
This is a pretty good app probably good if you use it enough to pay the yearly fee. I don’t need all of the advanced mapping just would like to keep the locations of a few stands. I’ve used the app a couple of years and liked it but now they have made it to where every 30 seconds a banner pops up to upgrade to advanced mapping which makes it impossible to use so I probably will delete the app and not use it any more. Useless to me now.
Not very good
The app is not good at all. Too basic. Will not renew. ONX is much better.
Ruined a great app
Let me preface, I am a hunter who has used this app for 8+ years here’s a couple of issues. 1. The map box update from google maps doesn’t work offline because some blocking api call and access to an area menu doesn’t allow me to access the offline maps option for a region unless I have signal. Which defeats offline maps purpose. 2. The map is glitchy I am constantly stuck on screens and selecting map layers. I’m currently stuck on tree cover and can’t get off no Matter what option I select. 3. The old app version had better caching now it’s constantly trying to reload instead of just keeping in local memory or on the device the current session. So back to point 1 if you have signal then lose it then open the app. Nothing. 4. The wind data has gotten terrible on the weather it will say SW wind only to on the Map show a NE wind opposite of apple and even what the apps weather shows. 5. My single most annoying bug is the fact y’all use my current location instead of the middle of the area GPS waypoint I have setup when I made the area like the app used to do. As someone who has multiple hunting areas in multiple states this with the locked out zoom level is sooo annoying. Sitting in florida having to scroll to North Dakota to find my area to plan a hunt…it’s untenable. Rant over please make it better.
Doesn’t Work!
I’m sorry, but this app and others like it are not accurate at all. I own land and I constantly have people coming on my land and they say this app tells him where the property lines are, I have to correct them every time. I could just easily be having them arrested for trespassing. Remember that when you use these apps.
Good but very buggy
I have used HuntStand for several years. I have overall enjoyed the app but be warned: it is very buggy. I am very tech savvy and know my way around interfaces. This year (2025), the wind app didn’t work at all…the entire season, which was annoying. If you Google this, it is a well-known problem. The line tool never was accurate this year. I had to reset the app frequently. I wrote to customer service twice complaining about issues. They responded to initial email acknowledging issues but the issues persisted. I haven’t heard back from my second email. I have downloaded OnX and will decide whether or not to keep HuntStand but bottom line: it was good but has gone down hill FAST.
Canceled subscription
I tried to upgrade my subscription so I could use the rut map but since my current annual subscription just renewed I have to wait until next year on Dec. 8th to use the upgrade. Over half of deer season will over by then.
RipOff No Stars
Had the Pro version of this app for years on iphone. My subscription updated automatically. Did the same thing this year, the pro did not update. Apple processed my payment; it was deducted from my bank account, but Huntstand says they never received it. Same phone, same processor, same app, but different app ownership. My money just "vanished in thin air" with neither company, nor Apple, nor payment taking any responsibility. Buyer Beware!!!
Would be 5 stars BUT
I absolutely use to love this app. By far the best hunting map app there was. Lots of bugs now. The LIDAR only works about 5% of the time. Wind direction on the wind cone is wrong half the time. Pins won’t pull up half the time. Hope they get the bugs fixed. Used to be an amazing app.
App has gone Downhill
I have used Huntstand since it began. This app has gone downhill fast. Constant glitches, weather data (especially wind) is typically completely wrong. Bought a new bow that came with a 3 month trial for OnX and will be making the switch.
Just gets worse
Every update the app just gets worse and worse. I used to love this app. 2-3 years ago it was perfect. Every update since then has made the maps worse, the timezones don’t line up with where I’m physically at, tools get harder to use, etc…
Garbage
Please look at the reviews before wasting your money on this completely useless app, go with ONX as HuntStand is the crappiest app ever!! I’ve cancelled my subscription, the app can never find your location, the wind direction is always way off, its always crashing, just overall a completely horrible app, don’t waste your money on this
HuntStand is a total scam, it does not work, and no one is doing anything to fix it
This app has not worked correctly in over a year. It started with the major update that changed the whole app. I am making it my personal mission to get a refund for the hundreds if not a thousand complaints for over a year that have not been addressed for anyone. This is a total ripoff. Everyone file a complaint with Apple and stop this scam in its tracks. There is no way this company can say that they are not aware of the disfunction of this application. Sending a form reply to contact customer service is laughable. All 12 members of my club have all filed a complaint with Apple for refunds and dishonest representation of services provided. I always wonder why people can’t leave something that works alone and ruin it with change. Oh wait it’s called money. Shane on this company for putting numbers ahead of people.

I have used this app for years and it has done nothing but added more “click bait” notifications and the real information I try to use it for is wrong right in front of my face. I have a screen shot of my hunt zone telling me that the wind is blowing to the south @ whatever wind speed, the compass pointing kinda north and the zone circle showing wind blowing straight north. It is showing my actual location bearing 100% wrong no matter how many times I try to calibrate or update my compass on both my iPhone and android phone. How much of a refund do I get back for canceling my subscription, transferring my data and spending my hard earned money to an app that actually knows what direction I’m facing???
Wind direction incorrect
I’ve used this app for years to check wind direction primarily. This season the wind direction feature stopped working consistently. Deleting the app unfortunately.
Terrible Ap!
Ap used to work fine showing wind direction (main feature). Lately it shows incorrect data and shows wind (incorrectly) for hours later. No support from developer. No way to provide feedback.
Awful
Used to be a great app but recently has been deleting some of my markers and won’t load my current location and boundary lines together, only one or the other. About to cancel my subscription and go with a different app

⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3-Star Review I’ve been a loyal HuntStand user for several years and relied on this app heavily during hunting season. Unfortunately, over the past year the experience has gone downhill enough that I ultimately canceled my paid subscription. After turning off auto-renew, I immediately lost access to features I had already paid for, even though my subscription period had not expired. That should never happen — access should remain active through the full term that was purchased. Previously, when I upgraded my plan, HuntStand’s system failed to properly merge the subscriptions and instead left two active plans, resulting in duplicate billing. This wasn’t caught automatically and required customer service involvement. Beyond billing and account issues, the app itself has become increasingly profit-driven. Features that longtime users relied on are now paywalled, and frequent updates have introduced instability. I personally experienced loss of saved boundaries and data, which is a serious problem when you’re managing hunting property and relying on accurate maps in the field. What finally pushed me to cancel was customer support. I submitted a detailed complaint and did not receive a response for two months — long after the issue mattered. HuntStand still has one of the best concepts and map layers available, which is why this is disappointing. With better account management, data stability, and timely support, this app could be great again. Right now, it’s not living up to what longtime users expect.

New review as of Dec. 9th 2025. Did a review last yr too. This is my 10th yr using this app. While it’s gone thru several updates, bottom line this season when you want to edit a trail/log rd w/a different color you can’t cause it just gives you property owners info. When you go to one of ur hunt areas you have to tap it multi times because it takes you to ur hm area or sends you to the general hunt area but you have to zoom out and scroll over to see it. The weather has been sketchy. It’s been out totally wrong for the day, and the time is correct. For instance you look @ the weather for the day & it says SW @ 9 mph. You got to ur hunt area hit the wind direction indicator for the stand u wanta hunt. Instead of what weather is it shows you say 6 hrs later and not the direction the forecast is for the day hr by hr. Several other bugs, too much rain o discuss. My hunt property I get 3 bars on my cell service. I think the developers are spending too much time on product promotions, podcasts, etc while letting their core product suffer. My subscription is up the 29th of this month and I’m going to go to Onx.
Wind direction issues
The wind direction function within the app intermittently loads the wrong wind data. I am checking the wind direction from multiple weather apps and the wind direction in the weather section of the app and 1/2 the time it is correct and 1/2 the time it is completely wrong. The app also fails to show the full 24 hour wind directions at times.
Bug needs fixed
Love the app, but for some reason the weather part shows the correct wind direction while the map overlay wind will be different and wrong. Please fix.
USED to be good
This app used to be nearly perfect. But since it changed format it’s just aggravating: 1. Constantly getting interrupted trying to get me to upgrade. Annoying!!!😡 2. If I touch ANYWHERE REMOTELY CLOSE to the + marker button, then you have to deal with that. 3. Periodically get black screen for maps. My hunt club has shared mapping, so I have to use this app. If that wasn’t the case, I’d delete it.
Unacceptable
I have been using this app for a long time it’s 2025 and I have the pro subscription, but it doesn’t work I can’t even see the property map anymore, thank you for your time.
Glitches
This app was great for years. But now, it glitches, my location doesn’t show up, map items don’t save, etc. When I don’t have great service, adding icons is almost impossible, and they don’t appear after saved. This will be my last year paying for the app. I do not plan to renew once this membership expires.
Great Value in Hunting App
Like this product better than OnX. Have had an issue with the app and customer service resolved it for me. They were good with communication.
