Billed after cancellation
After the price increased last fall I did not see value and canceled my subscription. My cancellation request was not honored / processed and I was bill $180 for an annual subscription 2 months later. Customer service has been difficult to reach to resolve the issue. The app was previously good but kept increasing the price without adding additional value .
Fitbit sync plz
Why does this app not sync with Fitbit but the original does? The original seems to try and push you to this when you go to do a workout.
Does not open
Newest update starts and never gets pasted the wahoo screen. I have tried it on my iPad and iPhone, neither are working.
Absolute trash
This is the worst app I’ve used yet with my Kickr core 2. In the ramp test, it keeps my power at 90w regardless of my work or cadence, take it off erg mode and the controls do nothing, I modify the incline manually, it jumps from 90 watts to 285 when I’m supposed to keep a heart rate between 153-158. During the 20 minute black hole session with 1 minute remaining a drop of sweat teleported me back to the beginning of the ramp test. It reset my whole workout after 58 minutes struggling to get my basic fitness test. The interface locks me from actually closing the keyboard during several operations requiring me to force close the app and restart.
Doesn’t run on Apple TV
Like many cyclists I have a dedicated indoor setup for zwift. Trainer bike, floor mat, table etc. this all sits in front of a large screen tv and Apple TV. What’s confusing is wahoo makes most of the gear for these setups yet this app doesn’t even run on the most common platform. Removed 3 stars and likely will not extend the trial.
Dead since last update
Doesn’t open since latest update a few days ago. Shows wahoo logo and then hangs. Tried restarting iPad, no help. Android version still works.
Buggy
Every one of the video workouts bugged out and stopped playing halfway through. This didn’t bother me much because I didn’t need the workout videos as entertainment. However the entire workout bugged out and crashed in the 4DP test, ruining the assessment.
Lost access to libraries
I can’t open any of the rides in the library in system. It bugs out and I have to go to the wahoo app and ride manually. It shows like 20 rides in workouts. What did you do? Why jack it all up?
Access to site
I have an account, but can’t seem to get access to. All I want is to ride (Sufferfest) videos, don’t want any plans!
Buggy
I frequently have to force quit the app to be able to make selections in the menu. I have also had to delete the app and reinstall it several times as it would complain that the database was corrupted and could not be rebuilt.
Very limited and finicky
&tldr: The workouts don’t all work correctly, and the training plans have limited flexibility. Some workouts are longer than advertised; one finished half way through, and wouldn’t restart. It also doesn’t allow much personal schedule tailoring, in terms of length of individual days, or which days have what type of workout. It also seems to have a rather limited numbers of actual workouts.
Love it so far, a couple things could make it amazing
Male, age 42. Experienced athlete. I’m using it to prepare for a 70.3 triathlon. So far I really like the detailed swim and run workouts and the ability to add in yoga and strength training. I’ve always struggled to integrate it all together and this app does a great job. For comparison, I used TrainerRoad to prep for a race a couple years ago. It was great for the bike but the run and swim options were a little too simple and not enough. It also did not have any way to add yoga and strength so I never quite figured out a sustainable process. I usually watch shows on TV, but it is nice to have the option to watch the cycling videos. Things to improve: I’d like the ability to build vacations or other days off into the schedule instead of manually adjusting or skipping. Some of the workouts appear on the schedule but can’t be accessed yet. Fortunately it’s easy to find a substitute in the extensive library. It would be nice to have suggested alternatives to the scheduled workout. For example: an option if feeling tired or time crunched would make it a little simpler. I think this works really well if aiming for 1 event. It’s a little less obvious how it will work if I am targeting multiple events, something the TrainerRoad scheduler was good at. Overall I am very pleased and will continue to use it as I prepare!
Buggy & Unusable
This isn’t my first rodeo with trainer/app pairings but it is the most disappointing since 1st or second gen. The app is buggy, the idea that you can stream their meh videos is a pure lie and even downloading (onto a 10th gen iPad) doesn’t get you clear of the app. It repeatedly fails to play the downloaded video - ride starts, metrics register…no video. If I wanted that experience I don’t need your app. It repeatedly tells me I need to subscribe. I have. You have my money. The app “finds the receipts” eventually but that is a bug. Video quality even on download looks 720. Love the Sufferfest merger…too bad for them because you gave them bugs. Total fail for people who don’t have an hour to troubleshoot before their ride. Would NOT recommend. Choose one of a half dozen other options.
Unreliable syncing
I normally don’t review apps, but this has been particularly challenging. I have SYSTM linked to 3P apps, and after having used SYSTM for one month, approximately 25% of my workouts will fail to sync within the SYSTM app (only shows in “calendar view” a completed workout but does not everywhere else), nor does it ever send properly to 3P apps. Every time this happens, I have to file a support ticket and SYSTM claims a “short cloud outage” was the cause of the workouts not syncing. Given this has happened 4 times to me in 30 days, SYSTM should consider auto re-sync for its users and improvement of their “cloud infrastructure”. As an engineer myself this is a vastly subpar integration experience that seems very fixable.
Poor non intuitive UI
I am not a cyclist. First time used such an app. Utterly rubbish: Uses random videos with random leftist agenda that you cannot skip forward. They do not actually show the racing view but random video about racing. Icons in library denote video type, not the actual training. Deleted the app and cancelled subscription after 6 min of trying to get the cycling view.
Exceptional
I’ve been a user ever since this app was released. I bought it for the cycling workouts and training plans which are great. However, the hidden gem of the app for me is the strength training, mobility, and yoga library of workouts. I’m in my 50s and have accumulated more than my share of injuries over the years (bike crashes, martial arts, knee problems from running). The library of workouts has mitigated the pain, strength, and flexibility impacts of those injuries down to a level I didn’t think was possible. The library doesn’t have CARs exercises specifically (which help with mobility) but I’ve found that I can adapt a number of the movements to make them effective CARs workouts. It sounds melodramatic but in some respects I actually feel 20+ years younger thanks to the app. The app isn’t perfect, the video playback is buggy as is the calendar. However, the software is regularly updated so I assume/hope they will eventually get around to fixing/modernizing those functions.
Decent variety of workouts with one disadvantage
As a woman cyclist who’s not into the gamification aspect of other virtual cycling apps, I really love being a Systm subscriber. However how come such little content seems to include women cyclists? Wahoo, please explore ways to partner with media rights owners who’d allow you to use footage from women’s cycling races. Lotta white dudes on my screen, which is making you all feel a little outdated.
Mostly vids WHERE IS THE TRAINING?
Found all the vids distracting Where are the training sessions?/ Tried for 3 weeks but got annoyed by this app
App and system ruined my bike
This is the worst app I have ever used it has screwed my bike up. I pressed pause in the middle of a warm up to get water. I come back and the resistance is screwed up. It feels like I am biking through cement. I was looking forward to wahoo but I have lost all respect for the brand. They make crappy products and screw people over.
Entertaining, great variety of training content - great for starting out
I’m not a pro, racer, of Zwift overlord. I’ve been trying out the various indoor cycling apps, mostly on free trial basis, and I’m one of the few who finds Zwift mostly demotivating - the gamified / SNES feel just doesn’t work for me. Luckily, there are some really good options out there that are different enough to justify using more than one app. I subscribed to SYSTM because what makes it stand out is the variety of the training content - entertaining videos of pros combining training with entertaining tidbits (On Location - great stuff!), to hardcore motivational videos, to just focused workout plans. Add to that the additional workouts for other sports and mental training, which are rounding up this app very nicely. The best part is that a training plan can combine all or none of these, so each session offers something different. Love the possibility to have all this tailored to one’s 4DP training area. What we now need is an ‘on-demand recalculation’ of the training plan, e.g. if I move sessions forward or do more in day, or if I need to sit one out (travel, injury, etc), it would be fantastic if SYSTM recomputes the training plan at the push of a button. A bit of ‘AI’ would be useful here. Big fan so far. Went from KICKR SNAP to CORE in the last 5 years.
Calendar on iPhone
I generally love the sessions and the training plans. However, the training calendar is constantly not showing up on my iPhone app. This is exclusive to the iphone and does not happen at all on ipad or Mac. Deleting app, logging out and in are only temporary fixes. The issue always returns. This is fairly annoying as the phone is what is consistently with me and I just am not able to see what I have on tap for the day or week.
Needs reminders and native calendar integration
Awesome app, does what it is supposed to do, intuitive UI. One thing I’d like to see is the ability to send reminders like “hey lazy chump, you scheduled a workout for today so remember to get to it in 30 minutes”. Or maybe integrate the SYSTM calendar with the default iOS calendar so I can have widgets!
Won’t even connect to their own products
Won’t connect to my kickr or wahoo cadence pod after update. Bar in HR sensor connects though. What a joke
Garbage, can’t believe same $$ as Zwift???
This app is complete GARBAGE!! Tried 2x to do their FTP test and it failed both times!! The animation is completely uninteresting and the workouts are extremely unstructured and vague. There is ABSOLUTELY ZERO reason to choose this over Zwift. Wahoo stick to making equipment!!!!!
Great training, strength/yoga vids constantly freezing
The videos keep freezing up. No internet issues. I have to reset app and open again.
Please make more demographically diverse content!
Good workouts, but clearly made by white men for white men. Can tell by the humor and just the overall lack of workouts that highlight anyone else. The one race I’ve done so far that highlighted men of color was a charity thing for men in Africa. Rather than saying “our audience is white men and so we want to center to them” maybe think on why you aren’t attracting a more diverse audience in the first place. I don’t even turn on the video anymore and just do my own thing because I’m so sick of the single stories.
Needs AppleTV app
This is a really great app and ecosystem as all the other reviewers have said. But clearly, the elephant in the paincave is that there is no AppleTV app. Something like SYSTM is made for AppleTV (or is it the other way around?) It’s currently the only thing holding me back from a yearly subscription.
Power Curve Nonfunctional
Unfortunately the app is full of bugs the developer will acknowledge in a bug report, but they’ve decided aren’t worth fixing. Save your money, avoid the brand entirely unless you want to buy a new trainer from them every 3-6 months.
Not very accessible
I would’ve given this a higher rating if not for the lack of accessibility. Being deaf, I rely on captioning and none of the non-cycling videos are captioned. The cycling videos are captioned (or have subtitles). It does not look like the videos are captioned for accessibility purposes, but because it’s not spoken English. This app is meant for hearing people.
Just Downloaded and UX is Buggy
Downloaded to try for the first time and tried starting the fitness assessment 4DP but it won’t launch and stuck on a screen where it won’t let me add sensors. Nothing scaled correctly and I have to force quit and can’t get past it
Poor execution, still
Ever since Wahoo took over Sufferfest they have struggled to maintain functionality in their app. Initially, I’d thought this was just the pains of integration, but we’re way beyond that. Issues that still plague the app: loss of paired devices on a regular basis, including ones sold by Wahoo, inability to change from portrait to landscape aspect ratio, loss of history from the Sufferfest app, failure to support older devices such as iPads or iPhones that don’t run the very latest version of iOS (is it really that hard to simply leave an old version of the software out there with no promise that it will work? Why delete them?). Wahoo devices, especially the bike computer, are best in class, wonderful, and user friendly. Too bad their app is such a terrible clunker.
Great App, Workouts and Training Plan
I have been using this for over a year now. Wahoo keeps dropping additional improvements such as workout history, moving stuff around on the calendar and connecting your Wahoo devices right in the app. The overall value is great on a monthly basis and even better for the annual option. In addition to hundreds of cycling workouts they also include yoga from Abi Carver and also strength and mobility workouts. The mental toughness stuff is also great and has really helped improve my racing.
So many obvious bugs
I like the structured workouts very much. However, the app has so many bugs that even very basic operations such as pausing and restarting a workout - particularly the video only, “mental training”, but also other workouts - would cause the video to stutter, or dragging the progress bar forward will cause the audio to be lost and video to progress at 3 to 4x speed… it’s shocking that such obvious bugs are not detected during QC/testing, and these bugs are allowed to remain in the released version.
Very impressed
If you are new to indoor cycling, and have a trainer on order, do not use this app until you receive your smart trainer. Once you install the app and register your name, Apple will immediately activate your trial membership. There’s a window in the app that asks you when you want to start your trial membership, but Apple doesn’t work that way. Once you download it and register it’s activated… whether you have your smart trainer or not. Thankfully, there are people like Ellisa at Wahoo that can help. I’ve used the application roughly 5 times since I got it and I am very impressed. Ellisa was kind enough to respond to my initial review, and and ensure that I get a full 14 day trial. I’m very impressed with the product and even more impressed with wahoo support staff. Thank you.
Can’t unsubscribe
There’s no way to unsubscribe if you sign up online. Total scam!
No Apple TV capability
Once it goes to Apple TV I would love to give this a shot. Zwift owns this type of platform right now so I can’t wait to see competitors try to out do them. I don’t think it will be hard to catch Zwift sleeping.
Second to NONE!
I have tried almost every training app (besides TrainerRoad) and this one is hands down the best if you want to focus on getting faster and stronger. I was about to do a trial on TrainerRoad and never did because of the what Wahoo Systm includes in their training. With the addition of RGT, Wahoo X is a one stop shop to becoming a beast. I still used (until the addition of RGT) Zwift and ROUVY for fun, but when it’s time to get serious about training Wahoo X is the clear way to go.
Wahoo SYSTM with Wahoo Bike
When are the buttons on the right lever going to work again to change difficulty levels?! So annoying that you guys don’t fix it, I am out of patience, it’s all of your products!
Lacking functionality
When airplaying, videos are sometimes choppy or not in sync with the audio (they restart midway) which is annoying when they should match the intervals. workouts must be done in the trainer and can’t be loaded on external devices (can’t follow your plan cycling outside with the good weather). during the half monty test, you’re supposed to keep your heart rate constant by adjusting power without ERG mode—this is frustrating and unnecessary. I couldn’t find a page in the app with a list of downloaded workout videos, meaning you’ll have to keep track or they’ll use up a lot of storage. in the UI, the settings button (small wheel) is in the corner next to the FINISH WORKOUT button. every time you want to change settings (eg to change from ERG to level mode as required by some poorly made workouts) you risk hitting the FINISH WORKOUT button. the top left corner in the UI is completely empty. App has not received any major feature updates in the last months (I have been using it for over 8 months with a $15/month subscription). tl;dr: the plans are good but the money is wasted if the workouts can only be done inside on a trainer. other parts of the app are frustrating and poorly designed.
Great content, unstable platform
I have used this program with a Wahoo Kickr for 6 months. The workouts are well designed and effective. The glitch is that the program fails to fully come up on my iPhone 13 when I try to launch it. The only remedy is to delete and reinstall, which is annoying when trying to start a training session.
Wahoo not reliable
So they don’t fix their other broken app and instead release more buggy apps? Hard pass
LOVE THIS APP
… but wondering when we’ll get to see A Week With a female pro? I’ve loved all the new updates and hoping you’re working on that!
Still no fix for Kinetic smart trainers
Title says it all. When Wahoo took over, they broke compatibility with Kinetic Smart Control trainers. So, I have a subscription that isn’t worth much. Sure, they’ve said they’ll extend it by the time list, but we’ve been waiting months for a fix already. I fear it will never come. That’s for the reply, but I contacted support in December 2021 and was told “this is an issue we’re aware of and have opened an internal ticket with our development team to investigate and resolve the problem.” No update since.
Just off the mark
This would be 5-stars if it weren’t for the fact that all of the wahoo apps cannot share workout data between each other. May be minor to some, but I use that to track wear and tear on bike as well as measure against personal goals. It’d be great if I’d be able to workout indoors and the data be written to my bolt. Otherwise, it’s great.
Great cycling fitness
Got the app a few months ago. And have been enjoying suffering through the workouts. The most recent update ( jan 29, 2022) has failed to save and sync my last two workouts. Ended up with workout recovered message and only dat for the first few minutes of the workout. Please help.
Solid exercise routines but SO SEXIST
I’m a female cyclist and am used to a little male chauvinism but it is so tiresome in this app that I’m ready to find something new. First of all, the text provided that is meant as encouragement is banal and so clearly intended for the male ego. But, I can mostly ignore that just to get my workout in. What I can no longer handle is the blatant sexism - token images of women riding and women profiles as soigneurs rather than athletes. Ladies (and any men that want to support the ladies in their lives), look elsewhere for a cycling app!
Not connecting properly
Never could get this to connect to my wahoo kickr in erg mode. This was very frustrating because using the wahoo table with my iPad in the tray slot covered the graph to follow. Not likely to renew as there are many other training apps that work better with all my wahoo gear
Systm Broke Sufferfest
I am usually a huge fan of Wahoo; however, they broke The Sufferfest with Systm for Concept 2 Bike Erg and the service has not been great. I have been using Sufferfest flawlessly before Systm with my concept2 Bike Erg, but since the Systm rollout, my power and RPM numbers are not syncing properly. I’ve requested a refund, but Wahoo has been dragging their feet. I’m hopeful they fix the app soon and process the refund. I’d like to resubscribe if they get it working….
iPad Pro support
The Sufferfest worked great on my iPad Pro paired with a Concept2 BikeErg PM5. Super simple. Real time power and cadence via Bluetooth. I like the new SYSTM features but now the iPad Pro connection is very poor. Only average power and cadence which hurts the experience. Do I need to buy a laptop and ANT+ dongle? Support says it might work again someday. I’m not sure if this is really a feature in the backlog or not but I sure do miss the old simplicity.
