Log food
It’s a pain to log your meals.
Too Many Friction Points!
Having to log in each time to the app??? Awful! Having to manually enter all food items? Awful! No food and nutrition database? Awful!
Good luck figuring out how to use it.
Not intuitive, hard to use, time-consuming. You would be better served with a pencil and paper.
No free version as advertised
Says there is a free version but when setting things up it won’t let u go beyond selecting the free trial which then switches to a subscription after 7 days. Previous review responses says u can “x” this screen for the free one. That’s very suspect as there is no confirmation and I’m not willing to take the chance of it working and not having to deal with support for months for a refund or to end a subscription I knew from the start I did not want. Coding is easy. If there is a free ad-supported version, make this an option on the screen. Either u select the free version with ads OR u select the free trial period which then switches to a subscription if u don’t cancel. It’s not rocket science. Disappointed since I’ve heard good things about the app and was looking forward to trying it. And that is really saying something because I generally despise apps but this one looked like it could really help with some very specific needs.
Rip off
Tells you that you can scan a product for nutritional information but doesn’t find anything you scan, and when you do the information is inaccurate. So I have ended up having to enter it all myself, which is a real kick in the nuts after dropping 39.99 for a year subscription. My health depends on having accurate sodium and sugar levels on the foods I eat, this is super disappointing and makes me want to cancel and delete the app.
Required Fields Unresponsive
I read a 1-star review where the person complained that the required fields were not working and they were not able to set up the app because of that. I figured it was a fluke because of all the good reviews. Well, it happened to me, too. The only fields I was able to enter info into were my sex and my height. Nothing else worked. The app is unusable to me because of this issue. I’ll check back at a later date and if this bug gets fixed I’ll re-download the app. Fingers crossed.
Tech Handicapped
Too hard to learn and use
Not impressed
I found the app difficult to navigate an input items to log for meals.. it took longer than it should for me to input all the info. Deleted and cancelled subscription
Requires account to use
Requiring an account to use means it’s not free, my personal data is the cost. Shame on the developers for falsely advertising this app. And shame on them for the reply they’ll post falsely claiming you can use it without an account. NO YOU CAN’T. They’ve made the food search so laughably bad it’s impossible to use the app without the barcode scanner… which requires an account which gives them all your personal data. Absolutely despicable.
No more barcode scans without signing in
Updated Oct 9, 2025 The developer responded a few days ago (which should be visible below this review unless they removed it). I’d like to address a few points from their response: 1. “It appears the sign-in prompt is currently showing for all barcode scans, which wasn’t intentional. We’ll be fixing this in the next update” - cool. I’m going to guess that’s at least a few weeks away. 2. “barcode scanning shouldn’t require sign-in unless the item’s data was shared by another Foodnoms user” - are you serious? Because of the bug I obviously hadn’t discovered this yet, and it’s absurd. That was definitely not the case before either. A significant portion of your food database was from other users so this is a major blow. 3. “the nutrition label scanner now requires server processing to work” - so it didn’t require server processing before but now does? It’s possible that’s because they improved it in some way but I doubt it. Seems like just another push to limit the free features. 4. “Please know you can still use Foodnoms entirely offline, with your data stored in iCloud” - I mean, I’m not sure entirely offline was an option as the food database requires at least an internet connection by my understanding, but sure. 5. “only server-powered features require an account” - yes, and that’s the crux. You’re changing what the server-powered features are and reducing functionality. It’s okay, I get it. You need to make money and my minor contributions to your food database aren’t worth anything. Since this has been broken for nearly a month, I’ve gotten out of the habit of using your app. Your response only served to provide additional reasons to stop using the app. Thanks for letting me know so I don’t waste anymore time on your app! I’ll try to restart my habit of tracking my food but it’ll be with another app. Original review: I tried quite a few other apps before trying Foodnoms about 6 months ago. I used it near daily and have a lot of history and custom foods and recipes added. Previous to the iOS 26 update, there were some limitations unless you signed in and paid for the subscription. Now they removed the ability to scan a single barcode without signing in. Guess I’m yet again looking for another app.
