icon font are awful but app is incredible
I’ve used this app for long periods of time over the years, and it’s just incredibly fluid and easy to use. The barcode and stuff is usually accurate, there have been times when they arent, but in the future you just re-use your previous choices so it works great. Great for making recipes and portioning them correctly / switching between servings / grams etc. The visual style is terrible though, the design was way better pre-2026
Not accurate calculations and nowhere to find help
I logged several meals and this app COMPLETELY miscalculated the macros! I entered the recipe link and entered the correct serving size. The recipe had 45g of protein, and it calculated 9g of protein. I searched all over to find a way to contact someone and see what was going on… nothing. And the “help button” only gives two options and no trouble shooting.
cant see weekly calories
this app sucks. once the week is over, it’s impossible to see a weekly total for your calories. No way to tell how many calories I ate last week.
The only option imo
Does this sync to anything I want? No. Do I enter everything in MF and manually copy it to other apps? Yes. Because the two that do sync are so terrible, I can’t even. MFP feels like sketchy malware, and the other option is almost as bad. I’d rather pay and do more work for a usable, non-annoying UX. I don’t currently use the strategy aspect (I have it elsewhere), and I *really* wish it had better integration.
Very Efficient
My gut health and weight loss journey has been made extremely easy by the use of this app. I have been logging now for about a month and I went from 189-180 lbs. It is extremely quick and easy to log foods and your macros consistently change weekly due to their adjusting programs I hope that in the future, they add an AI chatbot that can talk you through your meals, diet plans, and fitness journey in general. Lastly, I cannot figure out a way to connect my apple fitness app with macrofactor. I am sure it’s possible but I just cannot find the link.
Great, could be perfect
Got the bundle for a year, i like the app but for the price i did expect it to have some more features like food recommendations based based on how we are missing our macros. Like im never hitting my daily fat intake so it wouldve been cool of the “ai” suggested a shopping list of what i could/ should consider eating, based on the food that I log and the macro/micro nutrients im low on.
Best Food Tracking App Around
I’ve tried a few different food tracking apps while on my weight loss journey. I was hesitant at first because I didn’t want to spend more money on an app that I would stop using. So glad I decided to get this app. It’s a night and day difference between using MacroFactor and the other apps I used. A lot of foods are already in the database and the ability to get an AI estimate has helped multiple times.
Fasting
Fantastic app Nothing compares to this app in terms of macro tracking, but my I suggest adding in a fasting feature
Not worth the money
I’m annoyed I paid for a year of this ahead of time. Works fine for food logging, but you can do that with any of the free apps. My issue is with the supposed “coaching”. Basically all it does is lower your calories each week if you’re not losing weight fast enough. It tried to tell me I couldn’t lose 10 pounds in 4 months without going below 800 calories a day. Telling someone to starve themselves is not helpful or ethical. If you’re a 25 year old who’s never heard of counting calories, you’ll probably find value in it. But if your physiology is a little more complicated, this isn’t going to do it for you. Save your money and just use a free tracker.
Waste of time
spend 5 to 10 minutes curating and crafting your own profile just to be met with a paywall, and then just sell off all my information when I delete the app
Much better than MFP but probably won’t renew
Pros: reads barcodes quickly, doesn’t crash my old phone with processing power or rewrite excellent web reception to work in a reasonable time frame. Cons: as I’m coming into my weight loss goal it is aggressively trying to drop my calories beyond realistic deficits for TDEE at my weight for any activity level and I’m being pretty active. It’s hard enough not to rage quit every time the scale doesn’t drop. It’s harder to not even be able to tell the app your weight because it’s going to overreact. At this point the app is not helping me with strategy. I think there should be an override mode that lets you set the rate and calorie target and just tracks the change vs projection especially nearing the target since weight signal to noise is so low right now. Another upgrade I would want to see is the ability to run in a mode with no target weight, just a calculated calorie expenditure estimate based on weight and consumption that lets you see whether you are in a deficit or surplus on a day to day basis. And finally, I like the idea of spreading calories unevenly across days but it’s not realistic for me to know when I’m going to be consuming more or less in advance. I’d like a daily target that adjusts based on a moving average of consumption over the last week so that it’s easier to conceptualize how I should adjust for the ebbs and flows of life. Overall a good app, but the balance of automation is too simple to be useful. Either needs to be converted with AI learning for more advanced intuition for program updates or needs to become more manual to be useful in my opinion.
Waste
Scammed me for a dumb calorie amount no sane person will eat 800 calories a day unless you have anorexia (which I don’t) I think it pretty common knowledge that it’s unhealthy to eat under 1500 calories I paid 70 buck for some bs
Mhmmm yeaaa
Yeah, this is my fav macro tracker! I be building my recipes so easily for my creami, for my dupe King Burrito, my fav thing is if I make a crock pot recipe, I can add a meal to my tracker in grams and not just servings. Literally fabulous. Plus the workout app and it’s a great lil fitness cocktail.
Not worth the price
This app is marketed as a next level calorie tracker to lose weight. However, the interface is not user friendly at all. It is extremely hard to find your overview of macronutrients for the day, and there’s no tracker for micronutrients that I saw. It also has a terrible database for tracking foods, I couldn’t even find a standard 150 calorie pre-packaged rice krispy treat! The free version of My Fitness Pal is 10x better than this app. Also, it put me at an 800kcal deficit to lose 1 lb a week?! That’s extreme, not sustainable, and dangerous!
Worth every penny
I have been using MacroFactor for about 2 years now and am the fittest I have ever been in my life. After trying several different nutrition logging apps, this is the one that has worked the best for me. I highly recommend this app to anyone interested in a good high quality fitness tracker that makes tracking macros super easy.
Help
Can i not see foods i logged last week to re log them? Why do i have to save it to my favorites
Reached 15% BF in 30 days!!!
I’ve tried so many methods to lose weight. I realized that it was really hard to lose weight if I couldn’t accurately track my calories. MacroFactor not only tracks calories accurately, it makes tracking them so much easier!!! There are so many statistics that it tracks just from your weight and caloric intake that you just can’t help but want to support it with the right data. The feeling gives that accountability feeling you wish you got from a coach, but for only $72 a year!!! Believe that!
Down 70 lbs Soon to be 100!
I’ve been using MF since June 2023 and have lost over 70 lbs. Soon to reach my goal weight and will have lost over 100 lbs since then.
This app worked for me
I’ve tried my fitness pal several times and just could not stick to it. The interface the measurements and clear analytics are helping me. Lost 28lb in 70 days so far.
No brainer
Super intuitive and easy to use.
Best Calorie Tracking App
I think if you’re trying to stay on top of your calories, MacroFactor is a really helpful tool. I would love an update where it gives us different types of food or recipes to hit our nutrition goals for the day because it’s hard to sometimes hit my goals when I’m not sure what to eat.
Waste of time
Anything that makes me spend five minutes entering my personal data then to ask me to pay a subscription pisses me tf off
Great app!
I love this app but I have one suggestion. For those of us who work night shift, it would be nice to have an option for macros to rollover after midnight instead of resetting as a new day. It makes it a little more difficult to track macros when it resets automatically.
Easy to Use Tracker
I love this app. The first few days are a little rough bc anything worth learning is, but now it’s a part of my everyday plan and it only takes 5-10 min of updating. I do have specific body composition goals, so I’m looking forward to what this year brings
Fast
I’ve used several of the “top” food trackers and this one is by far the best and most intuitive. The database and photo logging are seriously impressive. Download this MF first!
Ai pictures are permanently loading for the last month
The app was working great until ai pictures were stuck analyzing 100% of the time. I have deleted and reinstalled about 5 times - and it never fixed itself. Unfortunate since it’s a great app otherwise but the pictures are a big reason why I would use this over mfp.
Great “Lifestyle “ App
I’ve been using MacroFactor for a while now, and overall it’s been a very positive experience. What really stands out is how user-friendly the app is. The interface is clean, intuitive, and easy to navigate even if you’re new to calorie tracking. The algorithm is genuinely impressive—if you consistently log your daily weight and follow the recommendations, the adjustments feel very practical and personalized rather than generic. The coached program is especially helpful because it takes the guesswork out of dieting and keeps you on track. The AI features are a big plus and feel like a game changer. It does a great job recognizing commonly eaten foods, and the added AI comments make the experience even more useful. That said, you still need to be mindful—automatic weight estimates for foods can sometimes be off, so a quick check is worth it. One downside I’ve noticed is the search functionality. It can be difficult to find certain foods, especially non-Western dishes. While the AI helps bridge that gap to some extent, the standard search could definitely be improved. The only major reason I’m giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is the lack of a free version. If there were even a limited free tier, this would easily be a 5-star app for me. Overall, MacroFactor is one of the most effective and well-designed nutrition apps I’ve used, especially if you’re serious about tracking and making data-driven progress.
No exercise logging
Lacks basic functionality from all other nutrition trackers
Fantastic app
Great app. Has helped me lose 30 pounds and break difficult plateaus.
Not worth money
I have been following Jeff’s science based tool for a long time so after the app was launched I excitedly got it. I chose 6month paid option to aid with my fat loss journey. As I started using it, I realized the algorithm is all jacked up. My BMR on conservative side is 1700. After a month of regular use, the app’s check in function dropped my cals to 1400. This is ludicrous given the fact that going this low would trigger other medical issues like Thyrodism (Hypo/Hyper). After few weeks of use, I have stopped using this app. The food tracking is also very cumbersome compared to free apps. My recommendation, use a free calories tracking app, do your due diligence in calculating your macros and stick to it. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND this app. This review is only for the app. I still like JN’s science based workout philosophy.
The best tracking app
I have used MyFitnessPal, carb Manager, carbon, built in trackers on apps like trainer eyes and this one is hands-down the best. The food database seems the cleanest without a bunch of random random crowdsourced inputs like my fitness pal has that have incomplete Nutrition. The AI photo with text is helpful in a pinch and seems relatively accurate. When you have a new food that has to be input the label scan to fill in the information is incredibly fast and accurate. It is 100% worth paying for
Poor regionalization implementation
Downloaded and paid for a subscription based off of Jeff Nippard’s video about his trip to Japan. Lo and behold, if your iTunes account is not Japanese, you will get NONE of the regional database for Japanese foods in Japan. For reference I travel to Japan to work every month for a week. AI logger constantly logs a photo of actual freshly prepare ramen noodles for instant ramen, because you westerners have culturally appropriate the word to mean instant noodles. For reference, most apps with regional restrictions use IP/location based systems to determine whether or not users get access to content for licensing reasons (which I was told is the case). Macrofactor has a whole separate Japanese app, which, you cannot get without a Japanese iTunes account.
The best of them all
I’ve tried countless macro tracking apps and this one just clicks! I love how you can customize it to your own diet goals. Tracking food is super easy and I’m finally finding success in my weight loss. I don’t feel a sense of shame if I’m human and err outside of my macros. But I also feel driven to reach my goals in a positive way. It has been super easy. Well worth the money!
Perfection
While it costs money, it is certainly worth it. This app makes life so much more enjoyable with working out and eating as I am seeing progress I’ve never seen with other apps. Also love Jeff Nippard!!
100 lbs down
MacroFactor has been crucial in my journey. I started at nearly 400 lbs. So far I’ve lost 100 lbs with it and I’m on my way to losing the next 100 and hopefully soon, for the first time since I was less than 4 years old, I’ll be at a healthy weight. Big thanks to all who were involved in making this project happen, it’s been a literal life saver.
Please provide landscape orientation for iPad users
I love the app otherwise but please provide landscape orientation for 12.9 inch iPad
Easy and Accurate
Great tracking tool that focuses on accuracy of their food database. Every aspect of the app is first class.
Amazing
Really great overall app. Lots of verified food entries and great AI coaching software!
Incorrect data
Basically none of the data is correct. Do you have to enter all your own data if you want correct macros.
Overall good, but confusing
The weight “average” is annoying. I want to see my actual weight, not trends or old data. On one page it says the weight from my scale, then on the trending page, it old information and “average”. You should be able to choose what you want to see, everyone has different goals. Average isn’t working for someone who is actively losing weight.
App is Great, but the privacy promise is misleading and the AI feature is laughable
As far as the app’s usability, it is great. No real complaints. However: 1) they claim to value user privacy, but only allow you to pay for the app via Apple or Google Play Services. It has been at least two years since I asked them to fix this. 2) they include an AI scanner that purports to determine an item’s nutritional information with a picture. This is farcical. All of the investment they put into this terrible AI feature could have gone into allowing users to pay for their service on the web (which would actually help them get around the mafia-esque cut taken by Apple and Google). Instead, they chase the same moronic fad the rest of the industry is chasing.
Could be better
Everything works great for the most part. However, creating a quick add and being able to edit it after is a hassle. Forced to remake it with the proper name.
Absolutely Recommend
Started using the app January 2026 when the sale was happening. I decided to give it try and it’s showing progress so much quicker due to all the work it was put into it. It’s really easy to use and track that makes it effortless and quick. If you are lost and need help, i can’t recommend this app enough. Somehow helps you understand what tracking really means. Will forever be a subscriber.
Super effective. Super intuitive
This app makes tracking easy and has a great breakdown of all the macros AND micros. Big fan
Tracking made easy
Tracking macros and goals can be tedious and time consuming, which was a big barrier for me. MacroFactor makes it easy and intuitive. Just a few minutes exploring the app and reading the intros, and you are ready to change your life. Love it
Simply Amazing
I have been using this app for about 3 weeks and could not be happier with it. I’m so glad I got the annual subscription because it’s definitely worth it. I’ve never had an easier time tracking my macros and my health has improved so much since using it. Fantastic app
Great App! However...
Please for the love of god make progress photos more easily accessable.
Perfect for bodybuilding tracking
I’ve been using this app for over a year and have successfully used the tracking to gauge maintenance and prep for bodybuilding competitions. Initially I used the app’s strategic weight loss features, but now I program it myself. It has made tracking my weight and food so easy. I can’t live without it. Highly recommend.
