INFURIATINGLY BUGGY
I don't think there's been a single time where I've opened the app and been able to accomplish my goal without having to force quit and restart at least once. Trying to upload more than 5 pics? Get ready to freeze. Sensing a message? Freeze. Making a group post? Freeze. The idea behind this app is EXCELLENT, but the functionality is TRASH. Even parents have had to completely uninstall and reinstall the app to get things to work correctly. If not for my school requiring this, I would NEVER use it again.
Options for teams
As a track and field coach, I want a tab that I can message or drop documents in for just specific team members about events they are participating in. Not private messages, but something that everyone can access, but that maybe only a few athletes would get a notification for.
More Useless Apps
I hate apps like these. Just more junk to clog up your phone and more passwords to remember.
Forced to Use
Like all of these apps, they have complicated license agreements and privacy policies. They clearly sell your data. If your school or team forces the use of this app, be sure to push back. Limit what you put in the app and take precautions with your data.
Inaccurate navigation addresses
Any other app when you click the place where the event is going to be, it will take you to the place accurately. This app is terrible almost concerning where it will send you. NO JOKE HERE. Literally in the middle of nowhere where you can’t even recheck because there is not signal your connection goes SOS needing satellite connection you will have to get out of your car ( which I didn’t ). I left for the game with plenty of time and I ended in the wrong town because the app sent me to a different town. If I will be the one taking the athletes or Athletes driving themselves they will miss to be on the time requested for the coach. This is very bad, when you have to be in an area you are not familiarize with. Nobody who to ask neither. NEVER EVER RELY ON THIS APP. Use a different navigation system ( Google, Maps, Waze, etc a mean you name it BUT not this SportsYou app. Any other sport app does a better job than this one.
Terrible design
So many poor choices in this app design. Chats are hard to follow and it’s not intuitive to see who is in them. All chats start with the same title and most users don’t know to edit the title. So you end up with 15 chats all with the same name and no idea who is in them. This is in the running for the worst app I have ever used. No lie

this is our main means of. communication w athletes and parents. the app will sometimes not load fully or log out athletes of their accounts. I don’t like the posts that SY puts out onto my main thread - but the app gets the job done.

Great App!
I used this app for a sport completely oblivious and believing I wouldn't need it for long. I still use this app and highly recommend it! Especially for wide groups such as schools because it provides networks for clubs and classes in one easy accesible app!
Good app, missing one thing
This app is good coming from GM. The comment section under each post makes it feel more like a social media which is good. 4 star review only because it’s 2026 and still NO DARK THEME!… please make this possible
Text message Notifcstions
We need to be able to choose to have these notifications/chat messages sent to us via text message. Not being able to get these messages via text holds users hostage, requiring users to check the app constantly.

TERRIBLE
This is the absolute WORST app I have ever used. My school has just switched to this for all sports and other platforms. It is so extremely slow, does not send notifications when it supposed to even though the notifications are turned on for the app, and messages don’t load. It lags terribly and we will be taking action with the school to get them to change because this isn’t working

It was a good app until I couldnt log in because it wouldn’t let me use google when I don’t even have a password and my school restricted using gmail

This app is very helpful for knowing when I have practice, however, I would love to have a thumbs down button because sometimes people be posting some random things I don’t really care about. Thank you :)

I like sports you because you know when practice is and everything the only thing I don’t like is that we can only watch a certain amount of videos!
App is very buggy
Good luck if you need to log in or forgot password. I spent endless cycles trying to reset password and it would never work. Had to create a new account. Crashes or freezes on iPad Pro.
Pro on every page now
What made SportsYou so special was it's minimalism & lack of invasive ads & upgrades packages. Now that they're selling their "Pro" version that has basic features locked behind a paywall. If you choose not to pay for pro, your app is now littererd with upgrade ads. Went from being a joy to use, to a near burden.

Terrible app performance
Normally I don’t leave reviews, but this app made me feel like I need to. It does its job in letting me contact my students in a secure manner, which is all fine. But wow, the group chats are so slow when I scroll up or down through the chat history. I’m not sure if the developers took advantage of using a lazy list to render everything, but it feels like it’s all stored in memory on runtime. There’s no reason my iPhone 16 pro should be having performance issues on a scrollable screen in 2025. This is the biggest issue with this app!!!
Fantastic app for team sports
This app has been a life saver for the junior high sports that I coach. The students and parents can get updates from me anytime, message me anytime, it’s wonderful. The in app calendar is a HUGE plus. I’m keeping the five star rating but the only hiccup is it needs to be restarted every now and then when using the app on an iPad. A little lag time but not enough to remove a star.
Awesome app but could use one more feature to be perfect
Love this app for communicating with my son’s soccer team. The one thing I wish it had was a snack calendar! We are always scrambling trying to figure out who is bringing snacks to games. And then when we do try to get a signup going, it’s always frustrating trying to remember what service we’ve used look up who’s doing what when it comes to game days. It would be amazing to have it built in here to this app we’re already using!
Not getting notifications
I’ve never had an issue with the app, then two weeks ago I suddenly stopped receiving notifications. I’m checking the app every few hours to see if there is anything has been posted. Please fix the lack of notifications.
Notifications not working
Good all, but recently I do not get any notifications on app. Please provide an app update. After reading reviews it is clear this is a widespread issue. Three people using app in my house are not receiving the notifications.
Great app! One problem…
This app is amazing! I love being able to stay in contact with my team and coach, and send them things when I need to. But recently, despite me having notifications turned on in the app and in settings, I cannot receive sports you notifications. This is very frustrating because for example, when I’m waiting on a text from my coach about something important, or waiting to see if anyone replies to a question I asked, I have to continuously check the app to see if they answer rather than the app sending me the notification. I’ve tried everything, I’ve installed and reinstalled the app, checked for updates, turned notifications off and back on, reset my phone. For some reason sports you just won’t send me notifications and it’s beginning to get increasingly annoying, especially during a sports season and as a team captain of 2 sports when people should be able to count on me to answer, but can’t.
Not a fan.
This app is less than functional. I’m forced to use it because this is what the school wants us to use. And I’ve been using it for years and only seeing basic upgrades. Being able to reply to a post in a comment and having basic two-way conversation would be Amazing. Also being able to bold, underline, or italicize in a post so you can highlight or call attention to certain things would also be extremely helpful. Messaging through the chat is an absolute joke. It doesn’t work half the time. I rate this app and they continually delete my comments.

Hide the keyboard!
The keyboard is always showing when scrolling. HIDE the keyboard when we scroll up. Half the screen space is wasted while reading messages.
Messages self delete
For the most part the app is great. A very clear way to get everyone all together. As a coach for a section of a marching band, it’s very helpful how much you can divide the team into smaller chats in the same place you can have the full team, and their parents. HOWEVER, I’ve been having a big issue of when I go to message my students and their parents, once I get past one line of text, the message just fully deletes itself. Sometimes I can get it to work again by exiting our messages and reopening them. But that doesn’t always work, and even when it does, it takes more time than I should’ve spent.
A good app👍
Everything is good except one thing, I was able to change my profile picture and tap on others to see theirs and add them but now it won’t let me do that, while I checked on a friends sports you account and they could. Besides that it’s a really great app that helps me stay in touch with my team and coach.
No notifications caused major misses
We were missing important posts- missing practices and game conversations- because the app had stopped giving us notifications. I emailed SportsYou from their website and eventually got it fixed but no notifications went on for a long time first.
So many issues
This app seems to get worse with each update. If it wasn’t required by the district to use this app, our team would use Band. SO many more features and far less bugs. Please, please work on stability and getting notifications consistently delivered before attempting to implement additional features.
No notifications
Bruh fix the notifications! Like come on, that’s all you see in internet reviews of this for months. What’s up?! Should be a no brainer, notifications have been a thing on apps for like 10 years. But yeah, free app, decent features other than the one critical thing you might like in a communication focused app.
App badge notification count is always 14?
Whenever I get a notification, the badge count on the app is 14. Doesn't matter if I have 1 notification or more, the badge count says 14. The same thing is happening on my husband and daughter's apps too. Other than this bug, I like the app!

App not showing notifications. All setting are correct and still not getting notifications to show up. Super frustrating when trying to stay in contact with a team! Still missing 1 feature. You cannot “like” a comment left under a post. Very annoying when needing the commenter to know you’ve seen their message. Please add this feature!!

No notifications
All of a sudden, I stopped getting notifications. I’ve checked my settings inside the app, and inside my iPhone settings. I’ve also just checked for an update, but there is none. This is causing a major frustration in not receiving timely information from my son’s coaches.
Nonexistent Notifications
My school recently switched from GroupMe to sportsYou for their clubs and sports. I like the app, but there is a MAJOR issue. I turned on every single notification setting, but I’m not receiving notifications whatsoever. I read a review from a year ago with a person who had the same problem, and y’all said that y’all fixed it, but it still doesn’t work. Please fix this because I need to know when my coaches are sending out important information without having to check the app every five minutes. Thank you for your consideration! Lately it’s been glitchy
The app overall is great but lately I don’t get any notifications like I use to. Even though notifications are turned on. It’s been super slow and the back arrow is slow. Please update!!!!
